Leech Timer

Postby Man » Fri Jan 13, 2017 6:31 pm

So I was thinking today as I was basting some chicken as I was in a party and they were killing a couple monsters I needed for a quest... you know, this is really easy.

Then it dawned on me, people afk all the time in game. What is to stop me from dragging my wifes afk character around the game getting it exp while she's sleeping? Is that cheating? One staff member said it's pretty close to multi-pcing. But why? She isn't doing anything she can't already do, or for that matter anyone, which is afk in a party.

There's a certain person who comes to mine, someone who joins our party on an assassin, stays 'afk' while still talking quite often, but not hitting anything. This person is gaining exp and gold while sitting doing nothing. So why is it cheating if I drag my wife around while she's afk if i'm not looking at her screen, not using pots, not hitting, I'm just healing her with my cleric, which I can heal anyone in the same manner with /party right.

Asked another staff member, and he was on pretty much the same page as me.

On to where this all leads.... We should add in a 'Leech' Timer so that people can't just afk in a party and get exp and gold doing nothing. This is an interesting way to stop potential cheating (from someone like me). I would suggest that there is a hidden timer that counts down, if you haven't made and attack or healing yourself (spell)/pet (ability) (very specifically those 2 actions, not using a potion) you no longer will gain gold, exp, quests, etc from being in a party. The game will essentially treat the said player as if they aren't in the party at all. I would state this timer should probably be slightly beyond 2 full stamina regains, say 2.5 stamina gains. This allows someone who is actually slightly afk some leeway.

If it is truly another person, then I agree, AFKing isn't a big deal. It is a game mechanic atm, aka it is what it is.

I agree with this mechanic itself though. Will see about it in the near future, though I'd say about 3 stamina bars, or about 24 seconds. would be OK. I am however not to worried as is even if people AFK though, so it's not a pressing matter.
