Bards and Charisma
Bards and Charisma
I have been operating under the impression that Charisma only affects spellpower and not the stat bonuses given from songs. Is this true? Or does CHR have the potential to give more str or int to party members? I just hit Ministrel today and am really bummed that even with the 25er drum it still only gives +1 Int. If Chr does make a difference waht is the threshold for bumping the Str or Int awarded up a notch? I am at 20Chr currently.

The level has nothing to do with the spell power. It works on the instrument power and charisma. Instrument power is pretty much the same thing as level here, as the maximum will be '25' power right now, but it will probably be obtained via OAD.
INT is probably the lowest boost overall, it's too powerful to give alot. I raised it a little but you're looking at 2 int max with a high level instrument. It should be +2 with a high end 25'er drum though now with 20 char. It might be +2 on your char now depending on the change here. (I think a power of 22 or so will get it to +2 with 20 charisma.)
The max is +3, thats with 23 charisma and a 25'er purple instrument.. It may be dropped to 2 as well.
There is a HUGE difference between INT and STR. Per int point gives you more heals, more damage, etc. And it's not little jumps typically either, it effects alot more then strength will unless you're all sitting as barbarians with high STR.
You get about 18-22% spell damage resists though overall too with spell 3.

I have played around since the change and the +2int definitely feels more impactful but doesn't exactly scream OP. Before no matter the party it was almost better to play the Str/AC song because the AC boost was more impactful that the Int raise.
Now it is definitely debatable. Thanks for checking into it.
Re: Bards and Charisma
Assuming a lv25 instrument with a song power of 23 (best that's out now?), are there CHR breakpoints above 20 for songs? I see you said 23 is the breakpoint for the INT song, does that mean its the same for STR/AC?
Trying to determine if 22 or 23 CHR is worth going for if I don't really care about the bonus hp/mp it will give over 20.

I'm pretty sure you'll get AC for every char. Maybe a STR point too. I can't really check right now but 23 char I'm pretty sure grants a bonus to int/str over 22 so should be worthwhile, but that could be only with a level 25 instrument when it comes to STR... Not sure on that.
Re: Bards and Charisma
Bah you can't +1 a unless you want crap magic resist. Still curious about 20 v 22, I don't care about the AC difference but the stat point I do. This is a pretty big breakpoint if it exists so I don't really want to sink 50+ hours into leveling something that is subpar. I'll wait until you can check, thanks!

Re: Bards and Charisma
Thread has to do with bards so random question
Why can i bless and enchant my Lyre but not my Waldorf Drum? and does decking it add anything to it?
A drum that was once owned by the sleeping bard. He dropped it when he saw the Flaming Salamander eat his best friend and hasn't left the inn since. The salamander found it and, for a while, played with it and imbued some of his power into it so that it wouldn't burn up. Over time it has lost some monetary value, however it still has a wonderful sound to it. This is a level 25 instrument. Waldorf Drum glows softly and is blessed with fire. This item has a song power of 23. This item is classified as an instrument weapon and has a level restriction of 25+. This item can be equipped by your class.
Drum is already soft enchanted with fire bless but i cant add other enchants/bless's

Re: Bards and Charisma
Don't know if I can handle that
The fact that it is partially decked makes me anxious and I feel like I am missing upgrades, I'll end up with sleepless nights, crazed itching and random out bursts of screaming knowing that if I right click and examine the item it is not completely finished, but rather only half completed, sitting there taunting me.
