Concern about the power of future PP items.

Postby Kismet » Thu Dec 22, 2016 2:30 am

Last mosh I entered staff were mentioning that PP items will be much better than anything you can obtain oad-wise, and frankly I'm not so thrilled about the idea. I am just seeing a potential repeat of the power imbalance that we all hated in a parallel world years back. The people with the upper hand in items and connections will smack harder/absorb much more damage. Disadvantaged "outsiders" will keep getting targeted, get discouraged, give up or maybe even quit. Participation and playerbase takes a pointless hit, and there are already signs of that since only Silhouette joined in the event.

If it were up to me pp items would only be slightly better than oads would only be a bit better than rares and so forth. The biggest pointer would be to look good, and anyone with any heart in them know that looks aren't everything.

P.S. At least I liked the idea of making a 2-hour exp debuff or the likes for those who sat out to "encourage" participation in events. That was rather amusing.

I second this.
Maybe even make the items to the power of a OAD or an actual oad item (to save on item bloat; too many items on the database) and you need to spend point to add to the "hum".

Other ideas to spend PP's on:
Free Stat Re-location (meh on this one).
Div change (meh on this one too).
Picture change (maybe special pictures).
Description addition (for when looked over).
Gold (haha?).
Special potions (meh on this one too).
Vault Size increase.
One of those Clan Ember things.
Items in general.
Experience Tokens.

Eh... I'm going now.
Disclaimer: Any ideas I come up with may not even meet my approval. I am just posting an idea based on the topic I have just read.
I love sheep.

+1 Brill OAD items are considered overpowered? :O I'm not sure what staffer said that they were going to be overpowered to hell, but that's a goofy statement. You probably shouldn't take anything people say to heart until its said from me. Though I did say the initial items are going to be between brill and radiant for the cheaper ones, and then radiant for the first items to be released. Nothing else was discussed.

Also have to remember it's not like you can toss one item on all chars, once it is equipped, it is locked in too.

I didn't see the post-crash weapons being a problem, they were very low div hitting weapons. Pre crash though yeah, but things like a Night Hammer went from 100% div bonus (or whatever it was) to maybe 10% div bonus. I do intend on being able to get interesting items in game that have bonuses as well that don't require winning events, but event items are typically going to be the 'radiant' version (mysterious>radiant>brill>bright>soft>dull) of the same items. Otherwise there is absolutely no point in doing events. I do want to get all generic OAD items in first before we get fancier.

Armor isn't a problem to go higher, armor doesn't give dodge like ROK did. But same thing here, Radiant versions.

Free Stat Re-location (meh on this one). <--- Yeah shrug
Div change (meh on this one too). <--- Also possible.
Picture change (maybe special pictures). <--- yeah
Description addition (for when looked over). <--- no this is reserved.
Gold (haha?). <--- why?
Special potions (meh on this one too). <-- maybe for low rewards just to 0 out your PP
Vault Size increase. <-- future, but not for awhile.
One of those Clan Ember things. <--- no.
Items in general. <-- I mean, yeah. this is kind of vague.
Experience Tokens. <-- Not tokens but boosts would be ok.

Name changes too.

I like the special pic idea. I hope someone makes or includes a picture of a pretty redhead with a crimson gaze. Would make me squeal like a little girl.

What I was said was correct as nitehawk stated they will be better than any oads can be even if it is just +1. While I dont think they will be mega over powered they will be better (starting at the first tier) than what you can obtain pve wise (outside of quests and events). I never said they would be easy to get either.

While i dont have a problem with top tier pvp items being much better than top oads I personally wouldnt mind seeing the first tier at blue-purple (top oads) but thats just me. I believe the first tier in rok for pvp rewards was mid level oads then top level oads then brills and then +1 brills renamed? This way even with a little pp you could get useful equipment if you were not a power player. While we did talk about some in between things like exp scrolls and whatnot so it wont be the only things you can get but it would be nice to get something useful equipment wise without it already being better than anything you can get from pve.

Keep in mind as well these will be binding to your character unlike in rok where once you got a brill heavens you could pass it on and rule on most characters.

Guess we will see how it goes the above is just my 2 cents not any other staffs opinion.

TOO BAD I WIN LAT.

Narh I thought about it we 'could' do first tier being = to oads, tier 2 being +1 min or max (in between brill/radiant), and hten tier 3 being radiant to start.

If we ever do add divinity items I want them to be balanced, in this case they could be = to oad but have a 10-15% bonus for example, which woudl pet it beyond the +1/+1. Probably more like +2.5 or +3

I've been watching winners of events and it really hasnt been to one sided. Seems like everyone has a chance to win and win some PP so it's not like 1 person is winning everything and stockpiling pp.

That was the point of King of the Hill when I thought it up. Moshes tend to be very one sided especially if more of one guild shows up. With King of the Hill, everyone has a chance at winning some pp eventually.

I think guild type moshes/events is okay once in awhile, but thats where you start running into people letting a guildie win over and over to rack up their PP.

Yea when i see lopsided clans in an event i try to do teams events so everyone has somewhat of a chance and people cant team up on eachother. tbh i think ive only done 1-2 all out moshes.
