NO MORE LATE WARP INS

Question though, I try not to do this event with anything less than 10 people

If I have 6 and say screw it and close warps, and someone pages me after the first fight "Hey just got home from work may I still join" "Hey was afk laying kids down, can I join" "Hey My porn movie just got over can I join"

Wouldn't you want more players envolved?

I guess Im seeing it from the staff position, you guys from the players position.

Staff: Wants lots of participants, the more the merrier
Player: Less players = better chance at winning

Lol me personally though, I dont like winning an event with only a handful of people participating. Feels like free loot. I'd rather earn it by being challenged by as many as possible in this type of event.

I definitely want more players involved, but at some point you have to say a cut off is a cut off and the rules are the rules. I honestly don't think it makes a difference when someone actually gets warped in, and if waiting ten minutes before fighting starts means more people get a shot, then yeah lets do it. However, once that late warp in begins to give an unfair advantage gotta draw the line.

Perhaps the balance is if there is less than x amount of players the reward is lessened? If a win of 10+ players awards 20PP then maybe 8 players should only award 16PP? 5 should award 10PP etc.

I agree with you about it not being worth it without there being a higher number of players. Events for me are for the glory not for the loots. Unless I join on my Ministrel and its really more for the lolz. The community having a good time is worth far more to me than gold/items/etc.

Unfortunately like many other things this may have to evolve over time before we find an answer that works. Thank you for taking the time and listen and discuss, it truly says a lot.

Thats not a bad idea about less people/less reward

My only concern would be people complaining "Well the rules state right here 30/20!"

I'll give that some thought and talk it over with the others and see what their thoughts are. If it's something thats agreed upon I'll add it to the rules page

Then change what the rules state :D
Put something like "30/20 for # Amount of players, with the reward going down or up based on total participants."
Or "#/# For every # Participants"

Actually, changing the awards based on the amount of participants for all events would be a good idea.

I do agree on this, why should someone who had to go through say 20 people to win get the same as someone that had to go through 10? But how to decide whats a fair prize for how many people?

We have feelings, emotions, stress, etc too. Sometimes we react to those things. It's going to happen, this is a new game, we're still molding and shaping things. This is MY first true event, that I designed, I made the rules and I run. Im still learning. I thought on the rules a LOT to make it fair for all. I make sure it's ran fairly.

I agree with you completely on all things here. People do tend to forget that this is a big work in progress and that there are lots of volunteers dedicating their own time, money, or other resources to making it awesome entertainment. Somebody is always going to be opinionated or worked up over something but it's our duty as human beings to show each other respect and be civil. I've heard "ruthless kaos" players a lot this past month and I really think that's an attitude that everyone should drop, personally.

We need to come sit at the table, use good manners, and have good conversation to figure out where we are and where we are headed. I just wanted to thank staff again, the artists, and builders that work extremely hard and STILL try to play so that they can enjoy and test. You guys are real unsung heroes.

I know I've made a post like this a couple times but when I see stuff like that I want to bring everyone validation that things are going to be okay, and we are all friends here...well most of us. I think WILLGUARDU has officially flipped his damn wig. lol.

with love <3

I mean the thing is if you are picked anywhere before the last 4-5 you basically stand no chance in winning. There is incentive to page late so you are not picked to go anywhere near the top.

A simple solution like i said would be to have nitehawk create a room random and just go in that order. yes you are getting screwed if the room random picks you to go first but atleast there can be no questions or blame placed on staff for anything at all. plus it would be easier on the person running rather than having to pick a number sort the numbers then do numbers again to see who goes next and all that jazz. Plus if it was simplified like this maybe i could run it here and there when cere is running late or just wants to participate himself.

Like i said 2 steps could be done here and no one could complain again.

1. After last call there is no one else getting in
2. Room random for order (no pages needed first person fights second then the winner of that fights 3rd and so on)

Most of us do staff out of our own time but you guys play out of your own time and there shouldnt be any questions about fairness I think the two steps above should cover it all.

-Suggestion for points-
As for the points rewarded since its a lot harder to get a streak than it is to get 1 win and then win the event maybe do longest streak gets 5-10pp per kill in the streak and winner gets 20 + tshirt? If you do well in the event and streak out and win its still possible to get 50pp. if you get lucky and are last to go and beat 1 person you can still get 20pp.

The points have never really been an issue. Vindal just brought up a good point that if 6 people join they shouldnt get the same amount as if I have 12 people in there.

I'll do some thinking on this and maybe change the way prizes work a little, for sure.

I thought more about the random thing, if Chris could just make me an NPC that sits in the waiting room that I can page and it will page me back with a random name from the people in the room, it would make it SOOOO much easier and fair I think.

Basically I would prompt the NPC with a page
"/p Ember Man Name, please!"
Ember Man would scan the room list and reply with a random name
" Ember Man is paging you from King of the Hill Waiting Room - Vindal"

I mean I guess I don't see why the paging is even needed? when a room random would take a min to create by him and not only be usable in your event but the others as well. I think this is a good solution because we are trying to remove event staff from any question of wrong doing. if its just out in the open instead of coming from you like you picked no one can complain :D

Maybe I'm missing something tho.
