As the title of the post says 1 character. You are your character that you are playing as not a split personality ;)


I think the confusion comes from the word "alt" aka "alternate" in the poll. If you say one alt is allowed people might think that means 1 extra character.

Do we need to redo the poll? LoL.


I guess I can see how people might think that if they weren't reading or following along in the thread? I'm pretty sure you can change your vote on this system so I'm not sure a 3rd poll would be needed?

I'm all for on character as long as the game is slightly more forgiving for solo players than RoK was. Half the time it seemed like it was impossible to visit half of the world unless you multied 2-3+ alts, or went in a decent party.

Doesn't need to be ezmode, but survivable as long as you don't try to solo upper level OAD areas of course. Sometimes it seemed impossible to go very far without a decently geared Guard /protecting a damage dealer or healer.

Thats the idea here! Instead of building the world for alts we are starting fresh and can build it for solo players. Dont get me wrong there should still be prime oads/leveling areas that are for groups only but the core itself should be 1 character friendly rather than how it was when the whole world was built for 3 alts and you had to have a pally team at all times.

It's also why I'm trying to keep the larger HP gains on characters too. We might even give more HP. The goal is to make it friendly and workable with 1 character. We will adjust as we see fit, but if it's going to be 1 character, it needs to work with one character, with any class.

I really disliked the feeling of requiring multiple characters to even do something as basic as leveling when you got to 22+

To preserve some of the possible combos and utility, maybe we could look at adding a Merc system - you "buy" an NPC (basically pre-charmed humanoid monster) that helps do dmg or heal depending on role etc.

We could either have tiers of NPC, or the cost scales and the Merc matches your level

Upkeep would also be a possible gold sink - they take gold from you every ~15 minutes or something - can be dismissed by command etc.

Would be a fun PK strat for thieves to rob players to make their mercs leave...
