I'm advocating for the ticket system as a way to deal with names deemed unacceptable, but I also feel it would be best to have the tickets be transparent. What I mean by this is allowing us normies to see what specifically name-related complaints are. If this can be done anonymously so people aren't worried about being targeted for reporting a name, all the better.

I just don't want a situation to appear where Name A was rejected but Name B wasn't and now Name A is brigading against everyone.

I hope you're addressing Mujahideen in the first paragraph with the trolling and negativity. I agree with you nevertheless, I just wish there were actual conversations and support about this topic than toxic garbage spewing from RoK... yet again. This is EO, let's make this better than what ROK would ever be.

Trying to be more practical... and considering there's a consensus that there is a line SOMEWHERE, the tool to open a ticket of complaint is a good idea. Whatever that tool is.

To make it more democratic, if Chris thinks that's how it should be (since it's such a subjective matter - what's offensive and what's not), then he just puts together a committee of an odd number of people, 3 or 5 staffers for ex, to vote and decide on those tickets (2 liberals, 2 conservatives and him  ). And this for the names in the grey area. If it's something unacceptable like a direct offense or something racial, then it's just: rip it off on sight.

If this sounds like overcomplicating it, just a way of reporting it for Chris' direct analysis or someone's whose judgement he trusts.

Fact is some names can't be there, that there has to be an outlet for reporting, and that someone has got to judge it.

If it's not practicable to put up a list before hand, it's at least possible to put together the list with the names as they get "banned" through these complaints. As the list starts growing, it will probably start making sense what kind of name is allowed and what isn't.

Later :)

Seems to me the general consensus is that there should be a ticket-reporting system. I foresee the system being better for the game than just monitoring offensive material though. It would lighten the burden of reporting bugs to be fixed, being able to snap report when you're in the moment of it happening rather than cruising to the website - or giving input/opinions about classes/abilities/etc with anonymity or at least somewhat. Just because some of us are more vocal about things doesn't mean others don't have things to say. :)

Whether there is a Tribunal or not, NiteHawk will always get the final say I'd hope since it's his baby. I like the idea of it myself. Just have to make sure that the Tribunal isn't complicated(thinking lots of people here) or bias! Not everyone is a good judge of character or great at conveying their thoughts to others.(just look at this thread!)

Is there any way to compile all of this under a (HELP?) tab on the client? Like when you press alt and it brings up the choices to disconnect, swap chars, edit bio etc. That way you could have it separate in to different types of issues rather than compile everything in to one report function?(Bug report, Abuse Report, Harassment, etc) It's been so long that I don't even remember how RoK did it...but I think I recall them having an ABUSE team?

Of course that's not okay, there's an underscore. Those things look hideous.

It seems to me there are a lot of people waiting to be offended these days. Ticket system is the way to go I guess.
Disclaimer: Any ideas I come up with may not even meet my approval. I am just posting an idea based on the topic I have just read.

That's that conclusion that it seems to have come to, but i'm also keen on an automated system with blacklists in place.

There can also be a pending name flag system where it populates a list for staffers/helpers to moderate and appeal/deny.
Again, this whole idea has turned from a blacklist to a voting and now to volunteer/extra work for staffers.

This game isn't huge by any means, but it's getting there and I still stand by this 'idea' that it will improve it immediately and into the future.
You'll always have wannabe trolls, idiots, and selfish desires floating about in the bodies of those remaining nameless but oh wait.... they're in this thread. Of course, disregard those. :]

In any case I will have a support ticket system soon. As well we can update the blacklist with serious offenders in any case soon too.
