Showing Armor Value and Power Value on items in shop/inventory

Postby Lateralus » Wed Nov 09, 2016 10:28 pm

I know this has come up before but since launch I have gotten a lot of questions about what to buy (if x item is better than y item). I think it would be a lot simpler and to the point if there was just a value on the item. Right now its not very player friendly you either have to risk buying/equipping an item that isnt better than what you have. Now that we have some new players in the community rather than just rok vets haha id like to see.

I personally like the mystery and the need to ask around or test yourself.

To make it a bit more new player friendly you could add in flavor text to the weapon that would maybe describe it's level of power.

I like it myself. Also it would be noted that going to a higher level city would most likely mean that it has higher level items from the previous city you are in. For OADs, you can test it.

I understand the north is lacking cities though, working on that atm.

Given I am no expert on this sort of game, I find myself in a situation. I have a green bandit's blade, and a green onyx stinger. I have no idea which is better, they both require level 15+. I think for most people, it would benefit greatly to know which item is stronger than another.

just my two cents, at the moment I don't know which to use, so its kind of frustrating!

Having a lot of fun playing though.

Well, you could spend 20-30 minutes hitting some mobs using both and recording the high and low damage numbers. Then look over them for a little and let us know what you find! :)

the point is he would have to equip one and then make it worthless because its now bound to him and he cannot trade or give away.

Its like a gamble atm when buying or equiping an item because you cant find out how good it is. For new players that are already struggling for money does wasting 5k on an item in shop just to find out its only as good as your current item sound fun? Sounds like a major turnoff to me. Yes as you progress things should get better but its not always that way and you dont know until you equip something.

Word, it sounds kinda sucky for new players. I don't mind personally but this is all familiar territory so I'm not bothered by it.

But no one is going to buy level 15 gear often, rarely. You can still sell it to shops even if it is soulbound though.

Oh I was under the impression that not every item had the soulbind property.

Do all shop bought items and drops have bind on equip?

All shops buy items yes, They will buy items that are already soulbound to you. Not all items have soulbind, that is correct. And another point you just gave though.. You can test alot of items after the NEWBIE items (after level 8 items and under) because it doesn't have the soulbind property. So thats another point to why I don't think it's such a big deal too.

We only soulbind newbie area items and newbie items in the starter city I believe. Maybe one city over too. But soulbinding an item that doesn't have it requires actually using a scroll to do it.
