Crimson Items

Postby NiteHawk » Wed Apr 26, 2017 5:46 pm

Been rebalanced, may not be the last on the tweaks department and have a set of bonuses. The dragon is still out of business for a couple more days though. Let's talk about the bonuses to start.

Every Crimson item is LVL 25 OAD RADIANT value (equippable at level 22 however). Pretty much +1/1 brill.
-10% chance to deal 10% bonus damage.
--Apon success of bonus damage, deals DOT BURN damage. (Deals 20% of your attack for 2-4 ticks, or about 10-20 seconds. Max 80 damage per tick.)
-5% fire divinity bonus (works with both physical and spell damage).
-3% extra spell damage and heal amount on most spells.
-Sorcerers and Necromancers gain a 'ignite' spell when equipping. Does not deal cast damage, but deals DOT BURN damage, which is pretty nice damage with decent INT. Obviously the more wisdom the target has, the longer the duration, but the harder to effect, as other spells are.

I'm pretty sure there is a potion for burn damage, but there is no spell deal with it.

In the near future I will be working on the other dragons. One per divinity. I am fixing the Sword of Sorrows and we'll have a small event with that one too.

A potion for burn damage? You mean the cold elixirs make you immune to it?

This sounds pretty good though, will give it a test later tonight if I can. Would be nice if we get them to the point of being able to use them in events (aka strong but not stupid).

I think so. Not sure if it works as immunity though.

Yeah, it would, but I would still think the current is a bit OP. I am lowering the DOT damage max though as we speak cause a slayer dot damaging for 170 damage per tick is lol. 170 x 6 that is would wreck anyone. Gonna set it lower a slight amount and then make a max, cause i simply can't make backstabs balance with the rest and it should need a max to sort it out.

Made it 20% with max per tick being 80 for 10-20 seconds.

Someone can rewrite the desc part of the info speaking as its garbage atm.

lmfao yea the description is horrible. I will rewrite it later in a bit if no one gets it by then.

would be nice to see burn damage but I guess it's not 100% necessary.

[05:54] Your crimson blade glows red hot!
[05:54] A night dummy is burned!
[05:54] You attack a night dummy with your crimson blade for 218 points of damage!

So in theory this is doing dot ticks of 218 * .2 = 44 damage? Not sure how dot ticks are calculated here, I'm just thinking about how much overall damage it does. 5 ticks would = another hit.

Tick is 5 seconds yeah.

Theres a couple scenarios where the max would be hit too, but I can see balancing it depending on what it can be or averaging it with and including a better max. Atm Max is 80 per tick.

Updated description. Feel free to fix more, there's many ways to word this and trying to be concise with it is a bit tricky.

Physical attacks with this weapon have a 10% chance to trigger Red Hot, dealing 10% extra damage. When Red Hot occurs there is a 50% chance to Burn the target (20% weapon damage DOT, maximum tick of 80 damage, ticking every 5 seconds for 10-20 seconds). This weapon also has 5% fire divinity damage and grants 3% extra spell damage/healing power. Sorcerers and Necromancers are also granted the spell "Ignite" (the magic equivalent of Burn) while this weapon is equipped.

Took out the stuff that is specific to sword/staff/class/blesses/etc.

Couple other points I noticed while doing this:
-Ember text should say AN aura instead of A aura. It has AN aura of fire (3%).
-AD text should say AN average power of X, instead of A average power.

Initial testing : Sword feels more like a strong OaD sword now. Damage is much more in line. Burn doesn't feel very strong right now because of the low proc chance. Will test more but right now burn feels underwhelming, at least on a Cav.

After testing I think so too. I'm going to remove the 50% chance and make it when 'Red Hot' occurs to burn as well always which should be better.

Overall I don't think it's at a bad place now. The ignite spell needs some more testing but I think it is OK too based on the values.

I've updated the desc, I will eventually get to those points you made when I update the server too.
