Staff class bonus.
Staff class bonus.
I feel like the actual class on sorc /necro bonus is nowhere near regular class bonus for fighter classes(physical)and should be upped to Be comparable to physical weapons if we want to keep balance across the board. I understand we are are trying to balance mr and whatnot but Mage/necro have 2-3 items to progress through (compared to 5-6 for other classes) and it's just not entertaining as a player.
Re: Staff class bonus.
Yeah I've asked this a bunch before. It's not a great design to have staves be nigh useless on casters - they ALWAYS go to ninjas first because the impact is far bigger. Not being able to get new weapons is a huge negative for people playing casters. Loot is part of the game for everyone else but casters are just ehhh. They are left out of that fun right now

Mage only oad weapon. It could be used so mages would balance.
Wand of pansy , sorc
Dagger of whimp, necro

I do understand its mostly spell penetration but it still doesn't seem like much difference. I also you guys have damage where you want it to be caster wise but maybe even something like lowering reg damage some and adding it to staves in the formula would have the same end result but make staves a bit more important and the upgrade a bit more visible?
Re: Staff class bonus.
AGREED. I took a liking to my chanter and consider it my main now after playing on it a lot and I feel staves should add more to the mix than they do as well
Re: Staff class bonus.
Ohhhh can we have a special new fancy robe that's class specific also
Cloak of many colors , mage, makes a sorc look very pretty do the sorc chr goes up
Gothic Robe of rotting silk, necro only to inspire the aspiring necro to total death lifestyle

Re: Staff class bonus.
Casters at the beginning used to be pretty balanced and held their own the problem was the other classes didn't have any good weapons available to them. Since magic damage isnt really dependent on weapons they are not scaling like the other classes are. All the other classes are hitting much harder than they were 3-4 months ago however casters are not and will not unless their damage is changed to account for weapon power.
Right now a mage stands no chance against a dwarf sitting there with 1350hp and 19 wis and a 10 magic damage reduction. Even against low wis crits a win is not always ensured like it used to be since they often out damage you by quite a bit.
I really dont see the problem with basing it somewhat on weapon power (yes paladins druids and clerics will lose their slight bonus but do they really need it or use it?)
Necros and Sorcs only have 2 items to progress through while requiring the most exp (one of them is just the difference between 1-4 ac from level 1-25 so that shouldnt even be counted imo). Giving them at least some weapons to progress through would be nice.

Re: Staff class bonus.
Can different staffs add damage bonus? So Staff x adds a +5dmg to blast, whereas some other staff adds +10dmg?
Then staffs wouldnt be useless, although they wouldnt still be the main weapon.

Re: Staff class bonus.
Necro can equip a Dagger so why not give armor penetration with it
Rubber training Dagger, necro only, gives added armor penetrating etc
******
Why keep rebalancing, if it's close we can balance it more using class specific weapons or modifying. We don't have to reinvent the wheel, sign it with a KISS, "keep it simple stupid"
