I agree with you that it doesn't take away from swords, but it removes all usefulness from blunt weapons. Not a reason for a cleric to wield a badass hammer any longer.

Not complaining by any means. Just thought it was funny five different classes all wanted a staff :)

Give blunt weapons spell pen, w00.

And fix it so paladins can use them!

Making all weapons have spell pen kind of defeats the purpose though.

Paladins will typically use it to level but otherwise they'll use swords, be silly not too. Clerics as well will not probably use a staff unless needed. It's kind of like choice on those anyways.

We are in a group with a Monk, Cleric, Necro, Sorc, and Pally. Bone staff drops.

Monk needs it cause hes a monk and attacks with staff.
Sorc and Necro need it cause it increases spell penetration.
Cleric and Pally ALSO need it because leveling each of those classes with smite is the current hotness.

Maybe a little too much value placed on staff weapons?

I think it makes it useful if anything. For cleric/pally its just another weapon you could have, but can honestly do wtihout. It shines with high int on a necro and sorc though. I don't think it has any less value then swords for half the classes.

This is kinda unfair, Priests need weapons to matter for healing purposes as well, cause no priests wil be fighting using their weapons and let's all agree that Ray sucks hard.

Guardians could be interesting if some of them had spellcasting bonuses, since they already have the benefit of hitting things with them so it should be more of a rarity.

Ray is supposed to suck. They are priests, they don't work by damage. Staffs don't benefit healing spells anyways.

Wouldn't it be possible or worth considering to make them benefit healing? (Staves)

Yeah, but I'd nerf current healing though then. I.E. If 22int heals for 290, and I make staves useful to them, then I'd change it so that they heal for lets say 250, and then 40 more for a OAD staff, with other staffs progressing up to 290 max.

Aka heal would be the same, just staff would play a secondary part to max heal.
