I'm usually not one to bring politics into a game setting (especially not LGBT politics), but in light of the mass shooting in a gay club in Orlando, those of you who live in Orlando, or anywhere else in Florida, should consider donating blood.

I live in Orlando and have friends that frequent that bar. Luckily, none of my friends were there (to my knowledge). I've been urging people to do the same. What a tragedy... It's terrifying when something like that hits so close to home. That place is 15 minutes from my house.

Yeah. Ohio's over a thousand miles away from there, but it's still a close to home thing for me as a gay man, since even if I lived close enough, I wouldn't be able to donate anything more than my time to them due to the ban on gay/bi men giving blood.

Glad to hear your friends are alright!

As a note, donation places are still turning away gay men.

This shit is idiotic.

Yeah. I get why that was a thing at one time, since back in the height of the AIDS crisis it took much longer to test blood, but now it doesn't take nearly as long, so the ban is silly at this point. And most sensible people in the community know their status anymore anyways.

Send an email to your Congressman to see how they stand on changing the law and then vote accordingly.

Apparently, they just dropped the law in Orlando due to the need for blood donations. It's about time

Last I heard that was misinformation. I know there was a rumour going around online about this, but One Blood put out information saying that FDA regulations were still being followed.

I thought gay/bi men were allowed to donate but not if they have had sexual contact with another male in the past year?
