Astral bow V Magma Bone bow

These items are the same power, but that seems a little goofy to me. Astral is far easier to obtain, coming from orange mobs that spawn every couple hours. Magma is from Salamander and we know how much harder that is...

Either Astral should be lower or Magma should be higher, eh? An OaD should be better than something that can be farmed off orange mobs imo.

Don't even bother to lvl my Ranger... or my Thief, for that matter. But I am in agreement with you.

That's because the magma bone bow has a more then a 50% drop rate so its more one of those oad items that is pretty much there for a quick sell item and an easy way to get a good bow. The Astral Archer does have a lower drop rate and in terms of the actual drop rate value if people did flame salamander daily they'd probably have a higher chance of getting magma bone bows more then astral bows though it might feel opposite cause the archer spawns every 1 hour 30 minutes on average. On the flame sally though I think it's more of one of those 'cheaper OADs' rather then one of the better OADs it drops. We wanted to try to ensure that all oads drop some sort of 'ok' items even if the good stuff doesn't drop. The bows themselves aren't the best IG and generally all OADs will have 1-2 items that are purples, which shouldn't be dropped on any hourly/bi-hourly mob.

If anything though the astral bow would get the cut by one point, but I'd need to look at it.

I don't think it makes logical sense to have a non25 solo farmable mid-level spawn item have damage equal to an oad that takes 6 25ers. It seems like in a typical RPG player progression model, store bought, quest rewards, and solo farmable mobs all drop gear that prepare you for "end game" content, not surpass it. I know we personally have very little interest in Sala other than when we are bored. This is mostly because the most dropped item is used by the least played class, and any thiefs/stalkers already have astral bows. Even though the Hakama is still there the loot table is very unappealing.

Both bows aren't near the 'end-game' min-max though. The idea is that you can generally get up to level 25 greens generally 'ok' through progression, much like how all items are now, but blue and especially purple are where the min-max is going to be. Purples are always +2 (or +1/+1) ontop of blues, blues are +1/+1 of greens. In 'general' anyways. Not always.

It's just that the OADs don't exist yet so it probably feels like it's too easy to get max, but it isn't meant to be max.
