Hmm maybe, but that's setting up an awful lot of work for builders and players to obtain endgame gear. I'm all for big productions too but I think ultimately there needs to be some middle ground stuff so players have things to do. Get 25 and you can run a number of oads for most of your gear, but then there could be more complex runs for the best gear (Spirit Forge quality, for an example). I'm thinking something like:

---at 25---
-Minor bosses as you put it, the stuff that spawns a couple times a day, for your basic 25 gear.
-Oads for your standard endgame gear. These can be special areas that are not terribly complex but still have a basic story/theme/goal. Lighthouse, pyramids for easy stuff. Slightly bigger things would be acheron's temple, Valest area. These are examples and I don't mean to say we should copy those.
-Big production oads, raids, whatever you want to call them, for the best of the best. Spirit Forge as an example here. That place took 20 characters to run and was really something special.

I don't think you even need hourlies at 25. Not that they would hurt but I don't think they are needed with storeboughts/minor bosses leading the path to standard oads, which then lead the path to the best stuff.

This is all of course long term thinking.

It is going to be a considerable amount of work for Build. That's why you don't have OADs yet, the amount of work that will have to go into them both on the design and lore fronts, and the fact that scripting still isn't completely implemented to make them interesting. The idea we have for them WILL make the wait worth it.

I never much cared for the idea of mid level OADs on ROK, because they seemed to be a cop-out for not running for better gear. Why run Gortyn when it was easier to get a heaven's, for example, or glyph when a scarab was just as effective and takes less than 20 minutes to do if you know what you're doing? Minor bosses (think ringleader spawn times) will still give decent gear, yes, but there needs to be a clear delineation between the minor bosses drops and an endgame piece of equipment, or you end up with no one wanting to do the endgame runs because they can get something close enough for a fraction of the effort.

The idea as of the last time it was talked about was class sets. You run one run, but you get a set of several class locked items over the course of several days, and by the time you have it all, you have a full set of armor and a weapon (weapons for dual wielding classes) for your character. The purpose of the horrifying marathon production is because of the set concept, if that makes sense.

I agree items strength should relate to their difficulty in obtaining, but I'm also a fan of options eventually. Glyph v scarab for example, both were usable (glyph slightly better iirc) but glyph was a bit more prestigious (at least for a time).

Class armor is an interesting idea and I like that, but I think that at least for some slots there should be viable alternatives. Variety is good, but as you mentioned it needs to be balanced. I believe the Gortyn shield was slightly better for a LOT more work. I don't necessarily think that's bad but it's certainly to be taken into consideration. I think things like that can be added to the game later after there is a solid base of gear available.

Thanks for listening to all this. I'm excited for the game and just want to help where I can :).

Gortyn's shield was worse (-1) but came pre-brilled.

Anyhow, scripting will be awesome for builders when it's developed. I was going to build a few OAD areas to help out, but I decided to wait till scripting because right now it's too limited on what can be done.
