It should definitely be limited, but it might make sense to have it depend on the area.
4-6 is good in general, I beleieve.

One major problem I see with limits is just being able to participate. I mean if only 5 people in the clan gets to do the OAD, what about the rest of us? I'm lvling a necro, I can see no reason why they would choose a necro to come over a sorcerer. In the end I become a bench warmer for OAD's because I can't offer anything worthwhile to the group over a sorc. Also everyone else gets left out as well. I think it is a bad system for this game to limit parties, especially that small. Same goes for other classes as well, not just necro. Some will simply not be able to join in the OAD action due to a 5 party limit needing to choose the most efficient combo.

Not all will be limited to 5 players like the post before says there could be 2 keys so its set for 10 players or 3 for 15 etc. not all will even have keys so dont count yourself out

Also an instance type system (where each character gets a chance to run for a day or week or whatever) is in the plans.

without some kind of limit its impossible to balance oads simple as that. You cant make an oad that is balanced for 2-20 characters its just not possible.

It is limited now but as Lat said we can ensure more people can run the quest, it just means you will have to coordinate more (i.e. two parties), I don't think it's a bad thing though.

I'm not sure what you speak of, but sorcs are going to be often needed in OADs though, specially when they get their other spells. Having extra AC and strength might be required for keylocks too, and it's handy to have :P

With this though, I need to take a look at balancing bards and other group spells more too, now that it's limited it could probably be higher.

I'm seeing a lot of support for 8 man parties. We have 12 classes. 8 man party still makes people choose.
In game: Diablo, Satan, Sicx, Nyte
Guardians of Darkness

I was saying necros won't be needed, because sorcs will be superior for a party.

I understand the need for a party limit. 8 seems to be the sweet spot!

If the server could handle it, I'd agree that bigger numbers lead to more variety in classes. Or maybe there'll just be 3 slayers, 3 ninja and 2 priests.

I set to 6 for now. We'll go with that to start.
