With all the talk of auto rollers and not wanting to roll and some hating the click your stats. .
How about we start as a fighter, mage, healer, rouge, then as we level we gain stat points which is auto done by computer etc. This is just a thought
Currently to much is going on and just a thought of leveling up. As you level you gain stats and no telling or possible , just a thought to talk about and see what others think.
At 25 you can add plus 1 stat to your choice.
If a person wants that perfect stat chat it's possible, if you keep redoing it until it's just perfect, after a 10 percent exp loss, then you keep redoing it if perfection
OR at level 8 pick your class n stats, of course can't go over maximum
Char development
Re: Char development
personally i like how the characters work (minus the usless stats)
i think there should be general stat points every level to customize your characters through skill trees.
im guessing 1 point for levels 1-9, 2 points 10-19 and 3 points 20-24 and 5 points for level 25
(points cannot be saved up)
the trees would have low benefits but could be built to preference and perhaps max at 1 3 5 and 10 or no max at all, depending on power.
generic skills could include;
- 10 bonus hit points, cost 1 point, max none
- 5 bonus mana points, cost 1 point, max none
- 1% less fizzle rate, cost 1 point, max 25
- 1% less cooldown timer on food/potions, cost 1 point, max 10
- 1% bonus to MR, cost 1 point, max 20
- 1 natural ac, cost 2 points, max 5
- 5 bonus spell damage for ray beam blast leech rot, cost 2 points , max 5
- 5 bonus melee damage, cost 2 points, max 5
- 5 bonus heal damage , cost 2 points, max 10
- 5 bonus pet damage, cost 3 points, max 5
- 3% bonus skill duration, cost 3 points, max 7
- bonus spell penetration , cost 3 points, max 3
- bonus div damage, cost 3 points , max 3
- reduce div weakness by half, cost 5 points, max 1
- all pets receive +1 taunt, cost 5 points, max 1
- bonus +1 stat, cost 5 points , max 1 (cannot be stacked in conjuction with a previous +1)
- etc
that's diversity

Re: Char development
Perk system wouldn't be so bad an idea tbh.
Look to fallout! (1 and 2 that is, the other ones were... not quite fallout (esp. #4 from what I hear), more shooters in the fallout universe).
Be funny to add traits too...
In Fallout you could choose up to two traits on character creation (they usually had something positive and something negative about them).
Perks you got every 3 levels, they were stat and level dependent (could make class dependent as well).
Added complexity though.
Not urgent.

Re: Char development
i just like the added development so it isnt always the standard chanter beats lizard, lizard beats mr based melee type, mr melee variant beats chanter in full circle. most of the support/non ideal melee builds are lost in this game atm. bards only help in training/rangers only help in oads by adding extra body.
development like slowly building MR/HP or anything i proposed above would make it so you arent just fodder in that same loop. you could max out MR and take some extra HPs on your lizard or empower your spells on your paladin cuz the int isnt max, then at the end you get 1 5 pointer to make your character the most unique or skip it entirely and get 5 1 pointers, etc.
i do agree with the 2 points at level 1 because that puts the above system at an even 50 points.

Re: Char development
Perks system seems cool.
Could be linked to a background creation system, a bit like Mount&Blade. Along the lines of:
"You are the son of a merchant/priest/XXX", you can Y on W stat
"You were a bit of a dork/bully/xxx when you were a child", you can +1/-1 on a stat
And so fourth.

Re: Char development
Basicly the theory of training to become a mage killer, but when against a powerful melee you die
Amidextrious would be a learned skill, to duel wield

Re: Char development
I love max level customization. ♡
Re: Char development
Definitely like these for longterm ideas. More customization is always a good thing
